If you have never been to an AI training session, you might picture a dark room, a data scientist with a projector, and three hours of code on a screen. That is not what this looks like.
Here is a realistic walkthrough of what to expect at an AI workshop designed for business leaders, specifically at AI Breakfast Club.
Before you arrive
You will need a laptop or tablet. No special software. No setup. Just a web browser and your usual business email. We will use cloud-based AI tools that run in your browser.
You do not need to have used AI before. That is the whole point.
Arrival and breakfast (8:00am)
Sessions start with a full breakfast by Bryn Williams at Theatr Clwyd. This is not a conference buffet. It is a proper sit-down meal. The room is small enough, 35 people maximum, that you will meet everyone.
This matters more than it sounds. Some of the most valuable conversations happen over coffee, before the formal session starts. The CEO of a logistics firm comparing notes with the owner of a recruitment consultancy. That kind of lateral thinking is impossible in a webinar.
The taught sessions (9:00am - 10:15am)
Two 45-minute sessions, each focused on a specific topic. The content depends on which course you are attending:
- AI Foundations: The AI landscape, data security and risk, real business examples
- AI in Practice: Advanced prompting, AI-augmented workflows, automation
- AI Transformation: AI agents and workflows, governance and compliance, impact mapping
These are not lectures. You will be asked questions, challenged to think about your own business, and expected to participate. The room is small enough that Gary can adapt on the spot based on what matters to the group.
Break (10:15am)
Fifteen minutes. More coffee. More conversation. Often the most useful peer learning happens in these gaps.
Hands-on workshop (10:30am - 12:00pm)
This is where the value compounds. You open your laptop, log into an AI tool, and start working on a real business problem.
In AI Foundations, you write your first prompts and get immediate feedback. In AI in Practice, you bring a genuine challenge from your business and work through it with AI tools, with Gary available to help. In AI Transformation, you build your AI roadmap.
The key difference from online learning: when a prompt fails, someone is there to tell you why and fix it on the spot. When something works, you can go deeper immediately. The feedback loop is instant and personal.
Light lunch and networking (12:00pm - 2:00pm)
Another meal. More conversation. By this point, everyone in the room has spent three hours working with AI and has opinions, questions and ideas they want to share.
Connections made at this stage often turn into ongoing peer support. Business leaders who attended the same session checking in on each other's AI progress weeks later.
What you leave with
This depends on the course, but at minimum:
- A clear understanding of what AI can and cannot do for your business
- Hands-on experience with the tools, not just theory
- A shortlist of tasks in your business where AI can have immediate impact
- Connections with other business leaders on the same journey
- Confidence to start using AI the same day
What you do not get
A certificate (this is not that kind of course). A sales pitch for consulting services. A room full of hundreds of people. A day of watching someone else use a computer.
This is practical, hands-on, small-group training. You will use AI yourself, in the room, with guidance from someone who does this every day for real businesses.
